A week ago, I covered Tesoro High School's National Signing Day celebration. Tesoro was the best football team in Orange County this year and they had six players sign with Division-1 schools. Here's the rundown:
Preston King - WR/DB/Returner - He's headed to San Diego St. to wake a dormant program under the new leadership of Brady Hoke, the former Ball St. coach. King will contribute immediately in the return game.
John Michael Davis - LB - Davis played at three different high schools (Orange Lutheran, Santa Margarita and Tesoro), but he's settled on Boise St. for his college ball. Rick Neuheisel and UCLA made a late push for Davis, but he was loyal to the "Smurf Turf."
Evan Finkenberg - OL - The big fella will be looking to man a tackle spot down in the desert for Arizona St.
Robbie Picazzo - QB - He earned preferred walk-on status at Stanford. He's a thinking man's quarterback that should improve quickly under the tutelage of Jim Harbaugh.
Josh Cabral - OL - He'll be asked to display his quickness while blocking for the option at the Naval Academy.
Brett Gudim - WR - He will be playing for Troy Calhoun at the Air Force Academy.
Brian Barnes - Coach - Barnes provided a scouting report for each player and what their college coaches can expect.
